Bootcamp Structure
The bootcamp consists of 6 core modules, each of which would take roughly one week.
Given the nature of the program, your instructor will spend more or less time on certain topics depending on your existing skill level and interest.
Module 1: Basics of After Effects
This includes the layout of AE, using basic tools, blending modes, parenting, masks, and rendering, as well as where to source video, image, and music assets to get started.
Module 2: Animations and Keyframes
This includes the building blocks and mechanics of making animations in AE as well as Easy Ease, Graphs, and how to make an animation look “natural’’.
Module 3: Motion graphics
This would include advanced techniques to create and fine-tune 2D animations (text, transitions, and using effects built-in to AE).
Module 4: Templates and Plugins
This includes using third-party plugins, sourcing templates, and using these to create professional-looking videos; as well as how to ensure what you make doesn’t infringe on someone’s copyright.
Module 5: 2D and 3D tracking
This includes the basics of tracking in After Effects and how to use these tools in real videos to tell compelling narratives.
Module 6: Summary and next steps
This final week is less structured than the others. You can use this final week to reinforce your knowledge and explore topics not yet discussed, or revisit what you have learned already and make sure it remains useful to you in the longterm.

The bootcamp is designed by taking into account what most of our students have been interested in over the years.
After Effects can be a very intimidating piece of software because of the sheer depth of functionality it provides, but you don’t need to know most of it to make quality videos. Using the data and feedback from our consulting students, we have distilled the most useful and frequently used parts of AE and combined them into this bootcamp.
Having said that, the bootcamp is loosely structured and there is plenty of room to pivot and spend more time on the areas within AE that you are more interested in.
Please discuss your preferences with the tutor at the start of the bootcamp and they will be happy to accommodate you.

You’ll be assigned an instructor who’ll be your main point of contact throughout the program.
You will be invited to a 15-min scoping call where the instructor will introduce themselves and learn about your background and motivations for joining the bootcamp. This is necessary to adapt the program to different skill levels and ensure the program is as valuable to you as possible.
The rest of the bootcamp follows the modular structure described above.

When you join our bootcamp, you'll be paired with a dedicated instructor who will serve as your mentor and guide. Through weekly one-on-one sessions, your instructor will tailor the curriculum to your skill level and goals, providing feedback and support every step of the way.
